Understanding Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID): Tools for Hope and Healing
Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is more than “picky eating”—it’s a complex eating disorder that can significantly impact a person’s physical, emotional, and social well-being. This gentle, supportive workshop will help you understand what ARFID really is, how it differs from other eating disorders, and why messages like “just eat it” can be unhelpful and even harmful.
Led by a team of experienced Body Brave clinicians with backgrounds in psychiatry, social work, and dietetics, the session will explore the different ways ARFID can show up in daily life. You'll also learn step-by-step strategies for creating safe, gradual food exposures at home in a way that supports recovery. Whether you’re supporting someone you care about or navigating your own recovery journey, this session offers practical tools, compassionate insights, and—most importantly—hope.
This workshop is primarily designed for individuals directly impacted by ARFID, but caregivers, loved ones, and healthcare providers are also welcome to attend.
